It’s that time of year and the 4th of July is just around the corner. It’s one of the busiest holidays, so we wanted to provide you with a few quick tips to help make your travel plans go as smoothly as possible!
If you can, travel early.
Since the 4th of July is on a Tuesday this year, many travelers will be turning the holiday into a long weekend getaway. Whether you are driving to your destination or to the airport to catch a flight, plan on leaving at a time where you will miss heavy rush hour traffic. You may even want to plan on leaving a day earlier in hopes of missing the crowds.
Be prepared for crowded planes.
Flights are bound to be packed so this may be one of the times that you opt-in for that higher-class seat for the extra comfort. It’s also important to give yourself extra time to get through security lines so you arrive at your gate with enough time to spare.
Packing light will help you avoid the added fees most airlines tack on for checked baggage. Some airlines also offer extra perks for ultra-light packers (just one personal item), by speeding up your boarding process and allowing you to get on the plane before other passengers.
Bring a trusted credit card.
Bringing along a trustworthy credit card means if you end up falling victim to theft, they’re likely to refund fraudulent charges. Also, be sure to let your credit card company know where and when you’ll be traveling before you go. That way they won’t shut off service when they see your card being used in another country or state.
Invest in travel protection.
Purchasing a travel protection plan can help de-stress the trip, just by knowing you have coverage if any unexpected travel disruptions do in fact happen along the way.
