You’re on a trip, enjoying your time away when out of the blue you find yourself in distress, needing a medical evacuation. You’re scared and in a foreign territory, and your family and friends are hundreds, maybe even thousands of miles away. What are you to do?
Through Travel Insured International, each of our insurance policies can offer medical evacuation coverage to safeguard your trip. If a traveler needs to be medically evacuated, coverage can extend from $100,000 all the way to $1,000,000 depending on the amount of coverage purchased. Numerous callers ask, “How much do medical evacuations cost and which policy would be beneficial for my travel?” Since medical evacuations differ based on the severity of the case, location and means of transportation available, there is never one solid answer to provide a traveler with.
The rule of thumb by which we at the Customer Service Department stand by is, if you are traveling outside the Continental United States, we recommend the Worldwide Trip Protector and the Worldwide Trip Protector Gold. Both of these insurance plans have either $500,000 or $1,000,000 of coverage.
So now you’re on your trip, you purchased one of our travel insurance plans and it just so happens that you need to be medically evacuated. The first step in setting up your evacuation is to contact the emergency assistance service at On-Call International. By contacting On-Call, a physician on site can confirm the medical evacuation with the assistance service. Once the evacuation has been confirmed and medical transportation is needed, you will be transferred to the closest American standard hospital, where you can receive appropriate attention.
Remember as a traveler it is always essential to keep your confirmation of benefits on your person at all times. This way in the case of medical evacuation, the emergency assistance service telephone number will always be available to whoever needs to call on your behalf. As always customer service is #1 to Travel Insured International, so if any questions or concerns come up before or during your trip, please feel free to contact us via telephone at 800-243-3174 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
