Summer months are upon us! The school year is coming to an end, and if you’re like many parents, you’re dreading the many weeks ahead that the kids are at home all day long! Many families can’t afford to take an expensive vacation get away every year. Maybe this year is your families’ year to stay close to home. Regardless of how near or far you will be spending your vacation this summer, it is always important to protect your investment.

If you have prepaid travel arrangements whether it is a hotel room for the weekend, a beach rental, amusement park tickets, or a day tour through your local recreational department, if its pre-paid and non-refundable you want to make sure you are covered in the event you need to cancel. Many travel insurance policies provide additional benefits like medical, baggage, and rental car coverage as well.

There’s no need to be bummed about your staycation. The trick to enjoying yourself is to deviate from your daily routines and truly make it a vacation.  Just keep in mind, there is no wasted travel day on the front and end of a vacation; therefore, you have two more vacation days for fun! No travel means no physical drain. Admit it, travel can be exhausting. If the weather is lousy, who cares? You can easily adjust plans. Your vacation can’t be cancelled by an airline or other travel situation.

Just remember whether you are planning a vacation or staycation, enjoy yourself!
