Tips for Traveling with a Group

Traveling with a group can be a challenge. Everyone travels differently and it can cause arguments or tension if you disagree. If you prepare yourself and your expectations of a group trip, it can be a lot of fun. The best memories are often made with a group, so Travel Insured has some tips to help your trip go more smoothly.

  • Discuss budgets with everyone. Some people make more money than others so you want to make sure no one is being forced to spend more than they can afford.
  • Check that everyone is on the same page about what type of trip it will be. Some people may want to relax the whole time while others want to always be on the go. Before booking anything, make this clear or find a way to compromise.
  • Use everyone’s strengths to help plan the trip. For example, if someone is very particular about accommodations then they can research where to stay. Or if someone has a great sense of direction they can help navigate throughout the trip. Splitting up these tasks helps keep everyone involved in the decision making process and avoids one person from being blamed for potential issues.
  • Always have snacks and beverages with you when you’re out and about. No one is happy when they’re missing their basic needs. You’ll want to avoid being a hangry traveler.
  • You’ll be with your traveling companions 24/7 so don’t be afraid to split up if you agree that you need to. Rest at the pool or hotel while others go out exploring, or vis versa. If splitting up isn’t an option, try an activity where you can be in the same place without having to be fully engaged. Museums are great for this.
  • Things don’t always go as planned. If anyone makes a mistake, don’t freak out on them. You’re all a team and you can handle it calmly together. Remember that you’re on vacation, and sometimes mistakes end up being the best stories to tell.
