The 3 C’s of Filing a Travel Insurance Claim

Many people look forward to traveling each year. It’s a great way to explore and unwind from our everyday lives. However, sometimes we run into less than relaxing situations while gone. Having travel protection may help if something unexpected happens before or during your trip. In case something unfortunate does happen, you’ll want to be prepared if you decide to file a claim. Here are a few steps to take in order to make the process as smooth as possible.

The 3 C’s to help you to start the claims process off on the right foot: Consider, Collect and Create.

Consider Your Plan Documents

It’s a good idea to read through your plan documents before departing for your trip. You will be better prepared should something unforeseen come up. If something doesn’t go as planned, and you are thinking about filing a claim, reading through your plan documents is a great place to start. Not only will you find a list of benefits, but you will also find the coverage limits and whether or not your coverage is primary or secondary.

Collect Supporting Documentation

In order for us to review a claim, we need supporting documents regarding the unexpected event that you experienced. These documents may include, but are not limited to: receipts, physicians’ statements and/or doctors’ notes, police reports, and proof of delayed/lost baggage. When reviewing a claim, it’s important for us to have a picture of the entire story and timeline of events that occurred. Be sure to save all of the documentation you have for your trip from start to finish. It’s better to have more information rather than not enough.

Create A Profile

You may have many questions at the beginning of your claim filing process. One of the easiest ways to gather information is by creating a profile account with us. You will have the ability to start and end your travel protection journey at your fingertips. Having this account will allow you to do things such as view and modify plans, download plan documents, and start a claim. Along with the ability to start your claim, you will have options to upload claim documents and to check the status of your claim. Many of your questions will be answered before you even knew you had them. This will help to streamline the process and ease some of the stress you may have from this unexpected situation. Should you still run into something you’re unsure about, we are here to help you in any way that we can, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

After going through these steps, you will be better prepared to file your claim. Visit our website for more information.

I submitted my claim almost 4 weeks ago and I tried to call today… I hung up after waiting 2.5 hours for someone to answer. When should to expect to hear something?

  3. Re; Cancel for Any Reason
We have cancelled our trip already and filed claim forms with appropriate documentation as requested via emails from your office. All Documents filed on or about 4/10 and 4/13. To date according to your website no claim has been setup so I have been unable to do any followup. I can provide policy numbers and any other info you need again if necessary.
    Please advise
